The New Parish

 Shipwreck Detective is an experimental ambient project created by Bay Area multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer Devanand Bhat. Devanand grew up performing in bands that could be characterized as industrial rock, shoegaze, hardcore punk, drone, doom, and ambient. All inform his approach to atmosphere and mood in his performances, which employ structured improvisation. His work features synthetic and organic textures incorporating guitar, analog synthesizers, old tape recorders, samplers, drum machines, loopers, and a dense array of effects processors. He draws inspiration from life’s other arts: nature, films, books. It’s all poetry.
