The New Parish

Inayah

Inayah is one of R&B’s most fearless storytellers. With a combination of unshakeable
Southern-fried swag and impassioned vocals, the singer/songwriter/actress uses her gifts to
share heartfelt stories about relationships, owning one’s confidence and navigating through
faith. Her newest album Wait, There’s More (out April 19th via EMPIRE Records) captures the
beauty of the multi-dimensional woman, embracing the flaws, tenderness and unapologetic
sass.
“For the Streets”, the lead single of Wait, There’s More, is an undeniably disruptive take on a
modern-day R&B classic. Sampling Fantasia’s 2006 “When I See U”, first single, “For the
Streets” is a powerful declaration of breaking the shackles of toxic relationships. The album is
jam-packed with anthemic singles like “Hot Sauce” (producer xx), “Pretty Girls” (Rockette) and
“Pacquiao.” Wait, There’s More proves that R&B continues to be a thrilling, versatile genre.
In 2014, her musical journey took root as she began writing songs for a jingle company while
simultaneously sharing cover videos on social media and auditioning for singing competition
shows like American Idol and The Voice. Inayah’s dedication and patience paid off when her
version of Ella Mai's "Boo'd Up" went viral on Instagram, propelling her followers from a modest
3,000 to an impressive 1.3 million, and getting the attention of singer/songwriter/actor Jamie
Foxx, singer/songwriter Maxwell and many more.
Her growing popularity and genuine talent caught the attention of EMPIRE Records. It led to a
distribution deal that gave way to the release of 2019’s S.O.L.A.R. (Storytelling Over Lyrics and
Rhymes) which amassed over 635.6M streams, featuring the RIAA Gold and Platinum-certified
hit “Best Thing”. In 2022, she followed up with her Insecure album while dabbling into acting for
the first time, landing the role of Trina on BET’s Emmy-nominated The Ms. Pat Show. She is
also set to star in the upcoming Tyler Perry/ Amazon studios film “Joy Ridge.”
